Octopus: Among Giants
Among Giants – The cold, rich NE Pacific Ocean is home to many giants. In this image, amidst Hooded Nudibranchs, is a Giant Pacific Octopus – the largest octopus species in the world. Octopuses are extremely intelligent and fabulously adapted to survive as a soft-bodied animal without a shell. Enteroctopus dofleini up to 9.8 m radial spread (arm tip to arm tip). The Hooded Nudibranchs gather to mate by releasing pheromones that smell like watermelon bubblegum. Melibe leonina to 17.5 cm.
Ready-to-hang canvas wrap. Image is mirror wrapped around a 3.8 cm (1.5″) stretcher bar. My signature is on the image.
