"Alabaster Nudibranch climbing Giant Kelp. Sunlight being converted by algae to make food, oxygen, and take in carbon dioxide. The algae ranging from the microscopic that make this Ocean green . . . to the giants that build underwater, cathedral-like forests.

This is here and yet there is such persistent bias to thinking that clear, blue, warm waters are more productive. How could that be? If the water is clear, there is less plankton. There is less food to fuel the food web.

Here, in cold waters with current, is where baleen whales like Humpbacks bulk up after losing so much weight in the warm-water breeding grounds. Then, when they migrate again, they import nutrients from THESE waters to the warm waters when they urinate.

These are the waters of giants. These are the waters that sustain more life. I've said it so often and it is at the heart of all the efforts here . . the keepers of paradise need to know they are in it.

I've come to reference the bias and misunderstanding as "ocean blindness". May a photo of a little nudibranch, just below the surface in these cold, rich waters, help open eyes, and hearts.
